Fantasy: Fan Team’s new high
Round 18 marked our highest score for the year as we finished with 2415 fantasy points.
It may have been two weeks in the making, but Round 18 marked our highest score for the year as we finished with 2415 fantasy points. We comfortably accounted for third-placed Adelaide, but we still sit in second place on percentage after Brisbane won again.
It was all about Tom Rockliff and Pearce Hanley this week. With Rockliff as captain, the Lions duo contributed a staggering 562 points to our total – an amazing achievement. With 190 and 182 respectively, the pair put up the two highest individual scores for 2014.
Elsewhere, our team either went big or struggled to top the ton. We had four other players break the 120-mark, but the likes of Brendon Goddard, Levi Greenwood and Scott Pendlebury couldn’t get to triple figures.
Finally, a special mention to Stefan Martin – the ruck/forward has been a godsend since we picked him up and this week swung into the ruck to cover for Aaron Sandilands.
Martin was supposed to be a cash cow, but after increasing $270,000 we can’t trade him – he’s the number one ruckman and the number one forward over the past seven games.
This week’s matchup
This week we take on Geelong, who still sit in last place with a solitary win for the year. Let’s not allow them to double the tally this week.
Team balance is critical for us right now. Moving Stefan Martin into the rucks meant we had to start Jeremy McGovern in the forward-line, and he's faltering after a great run early. It’s time to cash him in.
Meanwhile we have an important decision to make re Aaron Sandilands. Martin and Todd Goldstein are more than capable ruck options and if we trade the Dockers’ big man, we can move Ben Brown to our ruck bench, move Luke Parker forward and bring in a gun midfielder. Sound complicated? Here’s how it works:
1. Sandilands out
2. Brown, who is a R/F, to ruck (in place of Sandilands)
3. Parker, who is a M/F, to forward (in place of Brown)
4. Trade in a midfielder (in place of Parker)
By making the most of dual-position players, we can therefore turn Sandilands into a midfielder.
Trade decisions
The first one will determine our second set of moves, so it’s pretty simple:
If the answer to the first question is ‘no’:
