24 hours before the official selection deadline of the NAB squad, NMFC.com.au can reveal Aaron Mullett will be picked in the lineup to take on Hawthorn.

In what can only be described as a frustrating off-season campaign for the 2013 Rising Star nominee, Mullett has undergone a long recovery process after toe surgery.

But the 22-year-old is hitting peak fitness at the right time of the year.

"It's very exciting. Obviously it's been a really long pre-season, so to be out there with the boys, I just can't wait," he told NMFC.com.au.

Earning a reputation for his bullet-like skills by foot and drive off half-back, Mullett made his return in a VFL practice match on Saturday night. Getting through unscathed, he now has the Hawks in his sights.

"It was just good playing footy again and doing what I love.

"It looked like I was far away from coming back, but over the last few weeks the foot's come really good, quickly."

Majak Daw is also expected to be named in the 29-man team for the trip to Launceston.

Daw, on the comeback trail from a knee reconstruction, hasn’t played at AFL level since Round 9 last season.

In a recent Herald Sun article, Scott predicted the athletic forward ‘will be right for Round 1’, but his progress on the track will see him return much quicker than expected.

Robbie Tarrant, Taylor Garner and Levi Greenwood are others likely to come into contention for Friday night’s clash.
