Youngsters Max Warren and Mitch Wilkins have both been named in a 29-man squad, meaning supporters could get a first look at the rookie and 2012 draftee.
After a series of setbacks, most recently a collarbone injury, Warren has forced himself into contention with a hard-working approach at training and a focus on improving his fitness.
Wilkins has worked hard to build up his strength in the pre-season and has been rewarded with his first appearance in the royal blue and white.
Both players have gained valuable practice in match simulation against North’s best forwards over Summer.
One addition who will surprise no-one is Nick Dal Santo. The former Saint gets his first chance to play for his new club, while Robin Nahas could provide some extra zip around the forward-line alongside Lindsay Thomas.
As announced earlier on NMFC.com.au, Joel Tippett has been called upon in a key-defensive post in the absence of Nathan Grima, with Mason Wood also included as another option in attack.
For Wood, it’s been a long road back from a knee injury. He hasn’t played since Round 14 of last year in the VFL.
Meanwhile, father-son selection Luke McDonald will make his first appearance in North Melbourne colours.
