With Jack Ziebell no certainty to play against Port on Sunday, North has moved to fill the potential void left by his absence by bringing two ball-winners into its 25-man squad.

The club’s vice-captain will have his shoulder tested on Saturday or Sunday morning with a decision on his shoulder injury to be made at the last possible minute.

Providing cover is Ben Jacobs and Liam Anthony.

For Jacobs, it could be the first opportunity he’s had to suit up against his former side since crossing the South Australian border in late 2012 to join North Melbourne. The 22-year-old has played just seven games for the Kangaroos with his best outing in Round 21 against Essendon where he collected 19 disposals.

Anthony’s last match for the Roos was in Round 13 against Fremantle in 2013. Since then, he’s been working at his game in the VFL with North Ballarat.

Meanwhile Joel Tippett could debut for North if selected in the final 22 on Friday.
