Fantasy: Round 3 Preview
Fantasy coaches will hold their breath this weekend over whether or not Jack Ziebell will take to the field.
North fans and fantasy coaches will hold their breath this weekend over whether or not Jack Ziebell will take to the field to face Port Adelaide on Sunday. It is likely that we won't know until the final team sheets are in on Sunday .
Ziebell has been restricted in his first two games of the year and his fantasy scoring has reflected that, with scores of just 45 and 67 in the first two rounds.
His price in AFL Fantasy Classic has taken a nosedive as a result, falling more than $50,000 down to a current total of $455,686.
Coaches who own Ziebell in AFL Fantasy Classic will probably be better off trading him out this week especially given chance he could miss this week. Having said that, if his price continues to fall, he may become a bargain trade-in a few weeks from now.
Should Ziebell not take to the field against the Power, he is likely to be replaced by either Ben Jacobs ($192,400) or Liam Anthony ($221,100), who are both especially cheap in AFL Fantasy Classic after playing large chunks of 2003 in the VFL.
Jacobs looked very capable during the NAB Challenge. If he does get an opportunity he'll be aiming to make an impact again his former team.
Brent Harvey ($508,475) is North's most valuable fantasy player at the moment after starting the season in excellent form. With Sunday's game likely to involve high-intensity attacking footy, expect him to thrive.
Nick Dal Santo ($468,020) is ripe as a potential trade-in option. He shed some of his price due to a lacklustre fantasy score against the Bombers, but bounced back to crack the ton against the Bulldogs with a score of 105. He has found his groove at North, let the good times, and the fantasy points roll!
Fantasy coaches should keep an eye on Levi Greenwood ($383,008) who was impressive last week as the sub, managing 54 points in just a quarter of footy. If he can dodge the substitute vest on Sunday, he's definitely one to consider. At his current price he isn't worth investing in just yet.
Keep Joel Tippett on your watch list too. The rookie full-back has been named on the extended bench this week and if he makes the cut for the final side he is a bargain at $115,200. However, he faces stiff competition to break into North?s backline which conceded just eight goals last week.
Around the Grounds
For those working out what trades to make this week, there's a number of good options to consider.
Many ?premium? players have under-performed in the first two rounds meaning their prices are dropping. Footy Prophet trading out these players for the time being and buying cash-making rookies, before buying the premiums back later at a lower price.
Some good rookies to target this week would be Matt Crouch ($203,200), Jeremy Laidler ($135,500), and Alex Fasolo ($208,400). All three will have their first price rise this week.
If you?re looking to trade in a more established player, there are several who are great value. Nathan Jones ($487,475) leads the competition for most points scored after two rounds, while Matt Rosa ($428,632) is under-priced for what he has been producing.
Dayne Zorko ($432,470) looks like he has returned to the form that made him a fantasy sweetheart in 2012, and Matthew Jaensch ($355,879) has started this year with a bang, guaranteeing a continued price rise over the next few weeks.
