Friends become foes
North Melbourne’s joint VFL affiliates are set to face off in a do-or-die Elimination Final.
Werribee and North Ballarat will do battle at North Port Oval next Sunday, with the winner gaining a place in the second round.
There’s sure to be plenty of interest around the individual matchups. Tim McGenniss could be handed a tagging job on one of Trent Dumont or Liam Anthony, while the likely return of Robin Nahas will be met with stiff opposition – Scott McMahon, Jamie Macmillan and Taylor Hine all potential candidates for a stopping role.
If fit, Joel Tippett could cross paths with resting ruckman Dan Currie in defence.
Werribee finished the season in seventh spot with 10 wins, only sealing its finals’ spot with victory over Frankston.
After losing their first four games, the Roosters recovered to finish eighth.
Both teams will be sweating on the availability of their Kangaroos’ representatives, with the likes of Mason Wood, Macmillan and Dumont sure to come under consideration for a senior call-up.
With plenty to prove, friendships will be temporarily put aside on Sunday.
