West Coast defender Jeremy McGovern believes his side will be able to gain some valuable intel off former Roo Drew Petrie.

After 316 games, Petrie is in his first year at the Eagles.

“He’s got a little bit of an insight there, which is going to be handy for us,” McGovern told media on Monday.

“They’ve [the Kangaroos] changed personnel, they’ve changed a few things from when he was playing there last year.

“We’ll take as much as we can out of it, but we’ll be focused on our game plan going into this week.”

Meanwhile, McGovern hasn’t locked in on his matchup just yet, with defensive plans very much in the air for the Eagles.

“We haven’t discussed it too much yet, but I’m sure later on in the week when we fine tune a few things we’ll find out our matchups, but we don’t normally have a pure matchup.

“I’m sure I’ll be on both of (Jarrad Waite and Ben Brown) at some stage.”
