Dom Tyson is looking to bounce back from an injury-riddled first season at North Melbourne, with his 2020 pre-season off to a promising start.
“It’s going well, I’m trending the right way,” Tyson told North Media.
“I’ve battled through some injuries, having calf and shoulder issues last season.
“I had a shoulder reconstruction, and had a niggling calf, so I’ve eased in.”
Tyson’s injury issues look to nearly be over, with the midfielder targeting a return to the full training program after the Christmas break.
“I’m close to being back into the full sessions, outside of a little bit of contact.
“I’m starting to feel more confident in my body and make some good gains.
“I should have the green light post-Christmas to get back into full training.
“That should give the bone enough time to heal and I can get stuck into it.”
Having joined the club in the 2018 off-season, Tyson has seen plenty of change in the past 12 months, but is excited by it.
“There is definitely a freshness to the place, and Shawry brings some high standards and a lot of urgency,” he said.
“I don’t think anyone is wasting a minute, and it’s building nicely. With the change, everyone is on their toes, in a good way, and the boys are training really well.”
Christmas is viewed as a break for some, but not for the 26-year-old.
“I’ve got a pretty solid program, so I’ll use it to get back up to speed and fully integrate post-Christmas.
“I’ll get away and relax, but I’ll be doing plenty of running and gym work to make sure my shoulder and calf are strong.”
