After one of the club’s most disappointing games in recent years, it will be interesting to see what happens at the selection table.
The Roos’ review was “brutal” and it could mean that there’s a chance for changes.
The good form of those plying their trade in the VFL makes it all the more difficult for the selectors to choose their final 22.
NMFC.com.au looks at those in the mix for selection. Have your say on the potential changes below.
Defenders
After several weeks at VFL level, Luke McDonald and Aaron Mullett are starting to hit their straps.
McDonald was praised for his defensive work, while Mullett has been amassing plenty of the ball in recent weeks.
Scott McMahon continues to push his case after another outstanding game.
Midfielders
Ryan Bastinac put in another strong performance for the Roosters, racking up 34 disposals and 15 clearances.
Brad McKenzie’s 24-disposal haul was labelled his “best game of the year” by senior development coach Gavin Brown, and his polish could be called upon against the Cats.
Forwards
Ben Brown was among the best for Werribee last week alongside fellow forward Mason Wood.
Development manager Ben Dyer said Wood “looked like an AFL footballer playing in the VFL”.
Aaron Black’s work-rate came in for praise and he’ll be desperate to get back for his first game since round five.
Of the smalls, Kayne Turner, Kieran Harper and Taylor Garner have all been getting the job done in the VFL, with the latter having played his first game since coming back from a hand injury.
