Ms Giddings said the Cabinet was taking time to consider the joint funding proposal with local businesses and councils.
“As I have said on a number occasions, I believe playing AFL games in the South could bring significant economic benefits to Tasmanian businesses, particularly in the winter months,” Ms Giddings said.
“I have also made no secret that we are facing a tough budget situation.
“Tasmanians need to be assured that we are carefully considering all factors in this debate and it is prudent that we take the time required to get our decision right.”
