North chairman Ben Buckley says the club won't be significantly adding to the number of home it games it plays in Tasmania and decalred it will always be a Melbourne-based club.
The Roos' current deal is based on three games a season until the end of 2021, but could increase to a maximum of four.
"We are very comfortable with the amount of games we play now. We don't see it going to six or seven games (in Tasmania). We have always said we think the two-team model works," Buckley said.
"We are committed to developing footy in Tasmania, but I have also made it very clear that Arden St is our home, and will always be our home.
"Hawthorn has been playing in Tasmania for a long period of time and they have been very active, as we have been down there. I don't see that changing any time soon."
Buckley's stance means a one-club model is unlikely but it won't change the amount of work the club North does on the apple isle.
"We want to help provide a pathway for young men and young women to play in AFL competitions," he told News Corp's Glenn McFarlane.
"We have got a great partnership with Tasmania, we have got a great partnership with the government, and we have got a great sponsorship with the Spirit of Tasmania.
"We have got our Next Generation Academy set up down there and we are working very hard with the community.
"We don't approach it as (being) a 'fly in, fly out' team.
"While it is financially beneficial (to the club), we put a lot back into footy in Tassie. We are very keen to help grow the game there."
