It was a low-scoring AFL Fantasy game on Friday night, that saw North Melbourne go down to Hawthorn by nine points on the scoreboard.

The trouble for fantasy coaches begun at the selection table. Popular selections Jarrad Waite and Andrew Swallow missed through injury, leaving many short-changed in the bye round.

There were some positives with Mason Wood showing he’ll be a player of the future, producing 102 points from 20 disposals.

Let’s now review how Footy Prophet’s Fantasy Five performed.

1. Trent Dumont ($265,000, MID)

Dumont had a breakout performance on Friday night, producing 106 points from 24 disposals and seven tackles.

It was the young midfielder’s highest fantasy score and 44 points in the second quarter was also his best scoring quarter ever.

Dumont sits at an awkward price right now, but he’s one to watch out for in 2017 and beyond.

2. Jack Ziebell ($487,000, MID)

The acting skipper had a strong game, finishing with 89 points in what has been a heavy scoring month for the midfielder.

Ziebell is averaging 98 points this season, a career-best, and had a larger burden against the Hawks with Swallow and Ben Cunnington out of the side.

His scoring has been consistent all year with only one score below 80 which highlights how prolific he’s been.

3. Majak Daw ($298,000, RUC/FWD)

Daw came in for Waite this week and had to play more forward than ruck, which impacted the scoring potential he’s shown so far this season.

The dual-position player scored 58 points, his lowest for the season, but was heavily impacted by a slow start.

Daw scored only five points in the first half, before finishing with 53 in the second.

4. Farren Ray ($356,000, MID)

At $356,000, Ray is at a very awkward price and without stellar scores, it’s hard to imagine many people trading him in.

He scored 58 points on the weekend.

5. Corey Wagner ($136,000, MID)

With injuries to key midfielders, Wagner made his debut at a time where a lot of coaches are looking for rookie downgrades.

The debutant had a quiet start to his career, scoring 23 points for the game.

Unfortunately, a lack of job security and low-scoring mean you might be better off looking elsewhere if you’re looking for a midfield downgrade.
