Although the NAB AFL Trade Period is still almost a week away, with the season now behind us trade talks continued in earnest on Tuesday.

Free agency begins on Friday but clubs will wait until 10am next Monday to actually start making trades.

AFL.com.au's Trade Winds will provide a round-up of the latest action every morning until the end of the Trade Period on Thursday, October 20.

Rocky on the road out?

The arrival of new Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan could see captain Tom Rockliff’s future at the club decided imminently.

The Advertiser reports Adelaide is in the box seat to secure Rockliff should it decide to make an offer, with the Crows seen as the lead contender for the Lions' skipper.

However, Rockliff's desired salary could be an issue for the Crows, who desperately want to add more midfield depth.

Fagan is set to meet with Rockliff and Gold Coast trade target Pearce Hanley this week.

Kersten set for Fremantle medical

AFL.com.au reported last week that Fremantle has considerable interest in uncontracted Geelong forward Shane Kersten.

The West Australian, 23, is set to undergo a medical at the Dockers this week, according to Perth radio station’s 6PR Sports Today program.

Kersten played 13 games in the first 14 rounds, but just four more games for the season and did not play during the Cats' finals campaign.

Hartlett heading south?

AFL.com.au reports that Port Adelaide midfielder Hamish Hartlett arrived in Melbourne on Tuesday as he explores his options for a trade to a Victorian club.

Hartlett is contracted, but it is understood the Power's tight salary cap means the vice-captain is likely to be traded, with Essendon one of the clubs known to be in the mix.

Veteran Roo may head for third club

Midfielder Nick Dal Santo could find his way to Collingwood in the upcoming player exchange period.

Dal Santo, 32, did not have his contract extended by North Melbourne but Channel Seven in Melbourne reports the Magpies have interest in the smooth-moving onballer.

Dal Santo played 62 games for North Melbourne after 260 matches for St Kilda between 2002 and 2013.

Channel Seven also reports out of contract Bulldogs midfielder Lin Jong is more likely to wind up at Gold Coast rather than remain at the Whitten Oval.
