North Melbourne's Ryan Clarke has capped off an "outstanding" first three games, named the Round 18 NAB AFL Rising Star nominee.
The 19-year-old put in an impressive performance against Collingwood on Friday night, gathering 27 touches, four marks and two tackles.
Clarke debuted in Round 16 against West Coast as a last minute replacement for veteran Nick Dal Santo, who withdrew due to illness. He has averaged 23 possessions in his three matches.
North coach Brad Scott said Clarke’s elite running ability has been an asset for the side.
“‘Clarkey’ has been an outstanding contributor and has certainly made an impact in his three games to date,” Scott said.
“After being a standout for the first half of the season playing with Werribee in the VFL, he’s been an important part of our team setup.
“He’s a true professional and it’s been exciting to see his development at the club. He has a really bright future ahead of him here at North Melbourne.”
Veteran Brent Harvey said Clarke had fitted into the Roos' 22 nicely.
"He's been outstanding in his first three games," Harvey said.
"It's good to bleed some of these young guys and give them some senior experience.
"Clarkey's had a fantastic start to his career."
Clarke was particularly impressive in the final quarter of North's win on Friday night, racking up 11 disposals.
The midfielder was recruited from the Rowville Football Club and the Eastern Ranges.
He was the Roos' second selection (selection 31 overall) in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft.
