Year-to-year, Brent Harvey’s goals and ambitions have remained the same; to help North win a premiership.

In 2017 and beyond, nothing will change in that regard with the AFL games record holder set to return to the club and mentor its upcoming stars.

"I'm really happy to be returning to Arden Street,” Harvey told NMFC.com.au.

Speaking from a family holiday in the United States, Harvey said he couldn’t wait to begin working with the likes of Corey Wagner, Declan Mountford, Ryan Clarke, Mitch Hibberd and Ben McKay, as well as a new batch of eager draftees who will be announced on November 25.

“I'm looking forward to seeing the next generation of players come through and really start making their mark on the competition.

“I'll take a hands-on role with them over the next two years, helping to guide them and be there as a support mechanism in terms of their on-field and off-field development.

“I just want North to be successful and to remain a part of the team is really exciting and I can't wait to get started.”

Harvey had plenty of offers from rival clubs after he announced his retirement at the Syd Barker dinner, but was keen to take up a role at North.

He said the club approached him about a position very early on.

“To return to North is just fantastic,” he added.

As well as taking the young Kangaroos under his wing, Harvey confirmed he will also be involved with thousands of others.

“A big part of what I do is the 'Harvey's Heroes' clinic and over the years it's grown into something really special and is something I'm really proud of.”

The 432-gamer will remain a big part of the clinic for the foreseeable future.

“To be able to continue as ambassador of the Harvey’s Heroes day means a lot to me.

“I love seeing the smiles on all the kids' faces when they run out onto the Arden Street oval and hope we have another big turn out next year.”

Harvey has also agreed to work with North’s Father-Son and Next Generation academies with details to be finalised in the new year.
