As the countdown to the Syd Barker Club Champion Dinner continues, NMFC.com.au is taking a closer look at who might take home the best and fairest award.
While Robbie Tarrant looms as a potential favourite after a huge finish to the year, there’s been plenty of Kangaroos putting their hands throughout the season.
With finals still to come, the race for the Syd Barker Medal is well and truly open.
Jamie Macmillan
Macmillan had his best season to date, playing predominantly down back and on the wing.
Playing every game for 2016, he was one of the Roos’ most consistent players, with his impact particularly strong in the back half of the year.
Macmillan had a purple patch of form between rounds 19 and 22, racking up 30 disposals in three of four matches.
Providing plenty of drive out of the back half, the number 34 also took another step as a leader, stepping up when his team needed it.
Despite not being one of the tallest players, he was able to play a key role in defence at times, regularly playing important stopping roles.
