He may only have played 14 games, but there’s no denying the huge potential of Taylor Garner.
One man with a front row seat at training sessions and games, Shaun Higgins, knows only too well what the 22-year-old could accomplish in his AFL career.
“I think he can go to massive levels in his career,” Higgins told 1116SEN.
Hampered by injuries in his first few seasons at Arden Street, Higgins believes Garner will quickly establish himself as a dangerous forward.
“We saw little glimpses of it last year I reckon. He’s had an interrupted couple of years and we see it at training so we’re fortunate and get a glimpse of what he’s capable of but I think the sky’s the limit for Garns,” Higgins added.
“He’s a really good size, he’s a marking option for us, he’s a good as anyone on the ground level and if you watch his tackling closely, he hits harder than anyone in the competition I reckon.”

Those sentiments echoed by Brad Scott.
“Probably track watchers at North would have said that he was the one who was one of the dominant players in pre-season with a lot of our game simulation. The defenders hate playing on him and no one likes being tackled by him,” Scott said.
Despite his talents, Scott won’t be asking too much of Garner in the early stages.
“He’s a player that we really rate but we’re cognisant of the fact that he hasn’t played much. He’s had a few injuries so again we’re not asking him to come out and dominate, but he’s a player we hold really high hopes for.”
