Rookie Braydon Preuss will be out to impress in his first outing in North colours this weekend.

The 206cm ruckman has been selected in the squad to for Saturday’s NAB Challenge against St Kilda in Wangaratta.

The 20-year-old former junior rugby league player joined the Roos via the 2014 Rookie Draft and will shoulder the ruck duties alongside Majak Daw.

Jed Anderson, Ryan Clarke, Declan Mountford, Farren Ray and Corey Wagner could also make their first appearances according to GM Football Operations and List Management Cameron Joyce.

“Our new arrivals have impressed so far this pre-season and we're really looking forward to seeing them in action,” Joyce said.

North will be without six players from last year’s Preliminary Final side, with Ben Brown, Nick Dal Santo, Sam Gibson, Todd Goldstein, Lachlan Hansen and Ben Jacobs expected to play later in the pre-season competition.

Daniel Wells will also be primed for matches against Collingwood and Hawthorn later in the NAB Challenge campaign, in order to provide him with the best preparation for the opening round of the home and away season.

“He's had a seamless preparation and we're really happy with how he's progressing,” Joyce said.

“We initially thought he'd play this week, but the fitness and conditioning staff would prefer to give him two games in a row for continuity purposes. That will allow him to put in more strength and conditioning work in the lead up to Round 1."
