Co-vice captain Jack Ziebell has highlighted his intention to be a ‘one club player’ after putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal at North Melbourne.

The new deal will take the midfielder through to the end of the 2016 season.

“It’s super exciting,” Ziebell told NMFC.com.au just minutes after learning of his contract renewal.

“The club’s heading in a fantastic direction and I’m just thrilled to be a part of it.”

Ziebell has recently overcome a minor knee injury suffered in the pre-season but will be ready to play in the NAB Cup.

The 21-year old hopes his early signing sets an example for the raft of players coming out of contract.

“I think it’s everyone’s decision but for me personally, the club’s done no wrong by me.  I’d like to be a one club player and it’s important that you get looked after and North has been fantastic.

“It would be great if the others signed on too and we could all continue in the fashion we’ve been going lately.  It’s pretty important that we secure all the signatures that we can but it shouldn’t be an issue because of where we are headed.”

Ziebell says he’s relieved his negotiations weren’t drawn out and credits the club and his manager for coming to terms.

“I really didn’t want to go through the season with that hanging over my head and I’m glad it wasn’t a lengthy process and I can now just play footy.  It’s a relief and it’ll be good news for my family also knowing they can continue to watch me in North colours for the years to come."
