AFL Fantasy is back for another year, and the team at Footy Prophet will again be supplying NMFC.com.au with premium fantasy analysis and tips for the 2016 season.
North Melbourne’s unbeaten run rolls on, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing in AFL Fantasy in what was a low scoring game.
Fantasy favourite Daniel Wells copped a bad corkie in the second quarter and finished on only 43 points for the match.
The vast majority of AFL Fantasy coaches will be hoping Wells will be available to play next week and bounce back from his lowest scoring game of the year.
1. Todd Goldstein ($541,000, RUC)
Goldstein was the only North Melbourne player to crack triple figures this round with an impressive 113 points.
The North ruckman dominated the hit-outs and collected 17 disposals to go with it.
Goldstein continues to show why he came into the year as the second most expensive player in the competition and is a player you don’t have to worry about week to week.
2. Andrew Swallow ($438,000, MID)
Swallow has had a good run of form of late and scored another 91 on the weekend.
Given his reasonably cheap price, his average of 83 is good value despite the captain being capable of the occasional low score.
Swallow has averaged 90 points in the last three rounds too and that makes him someone worth considering if you have a rookie to upgrade but not a lot of spare cash.
3. Aaron Mullett ($177,000, DEF)
Mullett played his first game on the weekend for a decent score of 68 points.
His price makes him very tempting as an option down back, but the reservation would be whether he can keep his spot in the side consistently.
If he can, he’s certainly worth considering if you’re looking to downgrade someone like Marcus Adams or Jacob Weitering.
4. Drew Petrie ($354,000, FWD)
Petrie brought up game number 300 this week and slipped his way into Footy Prophet’s Fantasy Five because of the milestone.
Petrie has averaged 63 points this year and scored on par this round with 60 points including 21 in the first quarter.
It’s fair to say the milestone boy isn’t quite an AFL Fantasy-relevant player, but someone else in that forward line is and how did they go?
5. Jarrad Waite ($501,000, FWD)
After six weeks of dominance, the ex-Blue only managed 56 points after a red-hot start, scoring 27 in the first quarter.
Despite that, Waite has shown that he is a reliable scorer and all players deserve at least one quieter game without criticism so it’s on to next week for Waite!
