Jed Anderson will have to wait at least another week to make his return via the VFL from a hamstring injury. The small forward has been out of action since Round One but is close too resuming according to Director of Football Geoff Walsh.
“We expect Jed to return soon, he’s tracking really well and is itching to get back. We’ll see how he trains next week with the main group and expect to see him in Werribee colours in a week’s time.”
It could be similar news for draftee Mitch Hibberd, who must pass a final fitness test on his knee before being cleared.
There's no doubt about Taylor Garner and Lachlan Hansen though according to Walsh.
“Taylor’s rehab has gone well and we’re looking forward to seeing him back in the Werribee side on Saturday,” he told NMFC.com.au.
“Taylor has been frustrated to be on the sidelines for this long, so it will be pleasing to see him return as he’s certainly an important part of our forward set up.”
Coach Brad Scott told Hansen’s concussion had been a serious one.
"It was a really concerning injury, he didn't recover well at all," Scott said.
"We have first-hand experience here of the effects of concussion and Leigh Adams (who retired last year after repeated concussions) is a really good friend of Lachy Hansen's.
"We were just determined that he wouldn't even resume training until he was completely symptom-free and then we gave him another week just to make sure."
