With his departure from the club now confirmed, Daniel Wells has said farewell to the North Melbourne fans.
After 14 seasons and 243 games, the 31-year-old exercised his free agency rights.
“I just wanted to say that it weighs heavy on my heart that I have to leave this club that I literally grew up with,” Wells posted on Instagram.
“It's been an amazing 14 years with the Roos and the memories will remain forever.”
Drafted with the second selection in the 2002 National Draft, he is still North’s highest ever pick.
“It is an amazing club and I will be forever grateful for what they have done for me and my family,” Wells posted.
“As I truly know it could never be repaid in full.”
Originally from Perth, Wells quickly became a fan favourite early in his career at Arden Street, and it was to the supporters he saved his final message for.
“Thank you to all the supporters and fans, you have been amazing over the years and can't thank you all enough.”
