When it comes to giving advice to an emerging player, nobody is more qualified than Brent Harvey.
Labelled “too short” upon being drafted in 1995, ‘Boomer’ played 432 AFL games. His is a story that could inspire any aspiring athlete.
So it’s little wonder North’s draftees were a little star-struck upon Harvey’s arrival on the training track on Tuesday; the former Roo starting his new role as a player mentor.
“It was a bit of an unreal moment really,” Josh Williams told NMFC.com.au.
Harvey had an immediate impact on the young Roos.
“He introduced himself to me and he’s just a really nice guy … everything you would have expected from him,” Nick Larkey said.
“He’s the epitome of hard work. I’ve always looked up to him.”
