North Melbourne has accepted the resignation of its former Director of Football, Geoff Walsh, effective immediately.

The club has agreed to release Walsh from his contract to allow him to move to Collingwood.

“I'd like to thank Geoff for his valuable contribution over the past three years,” Managing Director and CEO Carl Dilena said.

“While this is very much an amicable parting of ways, because he is moving to another AFL Club, it makes sense for Geoff to finish up with us immediately.”

Walsh returned to North in late 2013 and helped guide the club to two preliminary finals and an elimination final.

"On behalf of everyone at North, I'd like to wish Geoff all the best with this next stage of his career," Dilena added.
