A potential clash is looming on the horizon for North Melbourne defender Jess Duffin, who is in hot form playing for the Melbourne Renegades in the WBBL. 

Duffin, who skippers the side, has plundered 286 runs so far in the WBBL, averaging 47.6 runs after 10 innings.

It's put her firmly in the frame for national selection ahead of February and March's Twenty20 World Cup, to be hosted in Australia. 

Unfortunately for the 2019 All-Australian half-back flanker, that's also smack bang in the middle of the NAB AFLW season. 

"I don’t think you can ever say no to playing for Australia," Duffin told reporters after the Renegades' loss to Brisbane.

"It’s just whether or not it comes at the right time, I haven’t really had those conversations (with her respective teams). 

"I can't say no. It’s an honour to play for your country so with a World Cup around the corner, you never know. 

Duffin last represented Australia in the 2015 Ashes, before taking an indefinite break from cricket. 

The Australian World Cup squad is set to be announced early next year.

"I haven’t even worked it out. It probably would be an issue for the Kangaroos, so I’m just speaking on my own behalf," Duffin said.

"It has to work out [with North Melbourne]. If it doesn’t work out, then unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to do it."

She said she hasn't had much contact with the Australian selectors so far. 

"I’ve said hello to (the selectors) a couple to times to make sure they remember me." 

North Melbourne returns to pre-season training this week.
