Livewire small forward Jy Simpkin is back in the frame to resume his AFL career after being named in North’s 25-man squad ahead of Sunday’s clash with Fremantle.
The 19-year-old has played six games in his debut year, the last one coming in Round 8 against Sydney when he injured his AC joint.
Simpkin is eyeing one of three spots in the side that lost to the Gold Coast with Jamie Macmillan, Jarrad Waite and Mason Wood all out with injury.
Wood pulled up sore from main training on Thursday afternoon with calf tightness, while Macmillan was ruled out with a finger injury and Waite a calf.
Dan Nielson will make his debut while rookie Cam Zurhaar has been elevated to the senior list in readiness for his first game.
