North premiership player and highly regarded assistant coach Darren Crocker is ready to roll up his sleeves again with a move back into the midfield.

Crocker, who was appointed as the Director of Coaching ahead of the 2016 season after 12 years a a line coach, will maintain the Director of Coaching title, while returning to his old role with the midfield group next season.

“I’ll still be performance managing all the coaches, the line coaches and the development coaches, but I’m actually going back into a hands-on role, looking after the midfield with Jarred Moore,” Crocker told NMFC.com.au

“Jarred will still look after the stoppages, and I’ll look after the transition outside of the stoppage.”

For a man who has lived and breathed footy his entire life, the opportunity for Crocker to work closely with the player’s on a regular basis again is energising.

“I’m looking forward to getting out, getting my hands dirty and getting back on the tools and building those relationships with the young players, and help them improve and fulfill their potential,” Crocker said.

With the amount of young midfield talent already at the club, and the opportunity to add some more pieces at this year’s draft, Crocker is excited by what the coming years.   

“We’ve got some young midfield talent already here, but the prospect for the next couple of years is pretty exciting,” he said.
