According to Brad Scott and Alastair Clarkson, Jack Ziebell was the best North Melbourne player on the field on Saturday, rewarding him with six votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year.

Ziebell did his best work in and under, amassing a game-high nine clearances in his 27 possessions. He also kicked two long range goals, as the vice-captain becomes almost a lock when shooting from range.

It’s the seventh game Ziebell has earned votes in this season, but he has a bit of work to do to catch Daniel Wells.

With another four votes, Wells polled for the fifth consecutive game and the tenth time in 2013. He leads all North players for the season with 45 votes, nine votes ahead of Ziebell, Drew Petrie and Brent Harvey with one round to go.

Todd Goldstein was handed one vote in his 100th game for a typically strong performance in the ruck. He had 19 possessions, just one off his season-high and drifted forward to kick two quality goals.
