For North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroo, Jasmine Grierson, the opportunities on offer at Arden St. were just too good to refuse.

The 20-year-old, who spent the past two seasons at Melbourne, is hoping to add a bit more versatility to her game.

“On the field, I see a chance to play in the midfield a bit more and push up the ground and be more versatile,” Grierson told North Media.

Selected late in the 2016 AFLW draft, Grierson was quick to make her mark, nominated for the AFLW Rising Star award in Round 4. She was later picked in the initial All-Australian squad at just 18.

While the move from the Demons was difficult, the young midfielder is excited by the chance to create a winning culture.

“It was a pretty big decision because I loved Melbourne with all the friends I’d made and the support I had, but I think it was an exciting opportunity to meet some new teammates and coaches and take my football to the next level,” she said.

“What I learnt at Melbourne is that we can make a difference in the competition by bonding and creating a strong culture.

“It’s exciting to play alongside some of the big names signing such as Mo Hope and Kaitlyn Ashmore, but even some of the younger Tasmanian and Queensland girls that I don’t really know that well.”

Despite being Victorian, Grierson holds a special connection with Tasmania, and is looking forward to playing senior football down south.

“My Dad’s side of the family is from Tasmania, so it will be good to go down there and get my family down there too, and hopefully play some good footy,” she added.

“I think there would be a lot of people too that would be keen to watch some football in the summer.”
