Season in review
It was an up and down season for Bastinac in 2014. Although he played every game for the third consecutive year, he was the substitute on five occasions – the first instances of his career.
The addition of Nick Dal Santo and inside play of Levi Greenwood meant Bastinac had to adjust both his role and style of play.
Used more as an outside midfielder during the year, 65 per cent of Bastinac’s possessions were uncontested, a jump from 59 the previous year.
The number three still had some impressive outings, important in the final term of North’s win over Adelaide in Round 22, and collecting a Brownlow vote in Round 20 against the Giants.
However, he’ll no doubt be looking for further improvement in 2015.
