The relationship between Tasmanian twins Chloe and Libby Haines can get super competitive, but it’s a huge advantage as they look to make their dream of playing AFLW a reality.
“Yeah were competitive … like when we’re running or doing laps or whatever, Chloe will try and do one more than me or vice versa, so we’re always pushing each other, always trying to be better than each other,” Libby told North Media.
But when Chloe wasn’t able to compete in the NAB AFLW Draft Combine due to illness, Libby felt the pressure to step up in her absence.
“I’m trying to perform on her behalf as well, because she can’t be running,” she said.
With two days of interviews, medical and physical testing, the duo couldn’t be more excited to represent their home state.
“It’s so exciting to be here, and obviously after putting in all the hard work and stuff over the last few months … it feels good,” Libby added.
“I’m stoked to be able to get around the girls today and everyone is trying to make it to the next level and support one another … it’s really exciting,” Chloe said.
“Obviously we want to make it to the AFLW, and hopefully put on a North Melbourne jersey.
“That would be the dream.”
While always keen to be the best, the sisters are also quick to identify each other’s strengths ahead of the upcoming Draft on October 23.
“My sister’s greatest strength would be her ability in the midfield to get the ball out, she has quick hands and her marking is great too,” Libby said.
“Libby has a good spoil on her which is key in the defence,” Chloe said.
