Kayne Turner has paid tribute to his ‘courageous’ captain Jack Ziebell, after North Melbourne defeated the Gold Coast Suns in his 200th game.
“He’s as tough as they come,” Turner told North Media.
“He’s one of the most courageous players I’ve ever played with. Running out behind him gives us all a lot of confidence.
“The win is very pleasing for not only the team, but for Jack on such a special occasion for him.”
It wasn’t all easy going for the Roos, with the Suns responding strongly after a slow start.
“We knew they were going to come, as they are a good side, especially at home,” Turner said.
North ultimately did enough in the first term to run-out 26-point winners, to record its third win in a row.
“It’s been a tough couple of weeks, but Shawry (Rhyce Shaw) has been really good in making it all about the players and making sure we are all OK,” Turner said.
“He’s not once made it about himself, and it’s really important that we are all really enjoying our footy.”
Turner kicked two goals for the game, taking his tally to eight for the season.
“I’ve been a bit up and down, and I’d like to be a bit more consistent, and I’m sure the coaches would want the same,” he added.
“I just try and get in the right positions and play my role, and hopefully like tonight it comes off.”
