North Melbourne can confirm Jade Rawlings will join the club as Senior Assistant Coach for the 2020 season and beyond.
The highly-respected 41-year-old will take over the midfield, working closely with current stoppages coach Jarred Moore, as well as assisting Rhyce Shaw with all facets of the game.
A backline coach at Melbourne since 2012, Rawlings’ coaching career started as an assistant coach at Richmond in 2007.
He was also head coach of Richmond’s VFL side before being appointed as caretaker coach of the senior side for 11 games in 2009 following the resignation of Terry Wallace.
He then served a two-year stint at Brisbane Lions under Michael Voss in 2010 and 2011 before crossing to the Demons.
North coach Rhyce Shaw said he immediately identified Rawlings as someone he wanted to add to his coaching team once he took the reins at Arden St.
“We’re really excited to have someone of Jade’s calibre at the club,” Shaw said.
“I identified Jade as someone I wanted to work with when I was appointed as senior coach. His professionalism and experience speaks for itself and he will be a tremendous asset.
“Jade has coached his own sides before and will bring a wealth of knowledge. I have no doubt he will be a fantastic addition and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
Rawlings played 148 games spanning 10 years with Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs and North.
