Season in review

Starting from the rookie list, Joel Tippett rose quickly to make his senior debut in Round 6 this season.

It was hardly a gentle start to his North career, with the key defender spending time on Matthew Pavlich during game number one. Nevertheless he was an important part of holding Fremantle to just eight goals, helping his team to victory by 13 points.

At 197cm, the left-footer was able to match up on a variety of opposition forwards, and looked to have cemented a spot in the lineup, playing four consecutive games between Rounds 6 and 10.

However it was against Geelong where disaster struck. In attempting to tackle the Cats’ Jordan Murdoch, Tippett tore his pectoral muscle, resulting in a long stint on the sidelines.

Although the key defender was able to return late in the season for North Ballarat and perform well, he was unable to reclaim his spot.

He was promoted to the senior list following the season.
