Bailey Scott
Drafted from: Gold Coast Academy/Allies
Height: 186cm
Weight: 74kg
DOB: 9/7/2000
Position: Midfielder

Bailey Scott has been drafted by North Melbourne as a father-son selection with pick 49 in the 2018 NAB AFL Draft.

Scott found himself in a unique position - able to nominate one of three clubs, North Melbourne, Geelong as a father-son, or Gold Coast as an academy player.

Scott’s father, Robert, played 113 games for North and 132 games for Geelong.

He recently elected to nominate North, the club which his father won a premiership with in 1996.

Scott has received high-praise this season for his elite endurance and work ethic.

With the ability to cover large grounds with ease, the 18-year-old tested well in the endurance running tests during last month’s NAB AFL Draft Combine.

Playing for the Allies along with fellow North draftee Tarryn Thomas, Scott averaged 23.8 disposals per game in the Under-18 Championships.

He was also a member of the Gold Coast Suns Academy, which gave him some valuable exposure to NEAFL football, in which he played against, and with, AFL-listed players.

For the Suns in the state league, Scott averaged 22.5 disposals and 6.4 contested possessions, playing predominately through the middle of the ground.

What the recruiters say

“Bailey has performed to a very high standard in every level he has played at. He consistently finds the ball and hits the scoreboard, along with his ability to break lines with his running ability. Captained the Allies and made All-Australian this year.” – Mark Finnigan

What the experts say

“Scott enjoyed a consistent season in 2018. He has proven to be a hard-working, reliable midfielder who plays mainly on the wing but can use his excellent endurance base to work hard up and down the ground. The son of former Cat and Roo Robert Scott, Bailey captained the Allies at the national carnival and was named an All Australian as well.” – Callum Twomey, AFL.com.au

What he says

“If things work out and I end up at North Melbourne it would be exciting to have the opportunity to play at where my father played in a premiership.
