ANDREW Walker is set to miss Carlton's final hit-out of the pre-season against North Melbourne after failing to shake the soreness in his quads that has slowed him in recent weeks.

Walker, 25, was placed on a modified training program in mid-February after reporting tightness in the tendon of the muscle in his kicking leg, but showed enough improvement to play in last week's NAB Cup game against the Brisbane Lions.

But he registered just three kicks in the heavy loss and Blues' football manager Andrew McKay said the skillful forward was still affected by the injury.

"He played for the first time [in the pre-season] and he's still a bit stiff," McKay said on Wednesday.

"He's getting some treatment on that this week. He had another scan … and the tendon is not quite right. He can do most things, but it's just the odd kick on the run that tightens it up.

"It's just a management thing really on how much he can do.

"We're not going to push him. We're just going to keep him fit and hopefully the quad settles down a bit by next week so he can resume full training.
