It’s no surprise Mike Sheahan’s top 50 has again caused a stir.

The Gold Coast’s Gary Ablett was ranked Number 1, but of more interest to North fans is the naming of three Kangaroos.

Drew Petrie has been given the top nod among the trio, alongside captain Andrew Swallow and Daniel Wells.

With 58 goals to his name in 2012, Petrie was 28th on Sheahan’s list.  Just four genuine key-forwards (Matthew Pavlich, Tom Hawkins, Travis Cloke and Taylor Walker) were rated higher.

Inspirational leader Swallow is among a raft of midfielders among the top 50, though some would say he’s been underrated at number 35, despite missing out altogether last year.

An injury-interrupted end to last season has done little to dampen Wells’ reputation, with the silky-skilled ball-winner coming in at number 48.

While he’s one of the oldest players in the AFL, Brent Harvey was a noticeable absentee from the list.
