In collaboration with the Mathematical Association of Victoria, North Melbourne and its community arm, The Huddle, are revolutionising learning with GOAL! Kangaroos –  an innovative and fun series of lessons that brings the excitement of AFL into Victorian classrooms.

Designed for Year  3-5 students, GOAL! Kangaroos offers six free curriculum-aligned science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) lessons that enhance traditional learning.

Each lesson is introduced by North Melbourne players, including AFLW premiership players Emma Kearney and Ash Riddell and AFL players Nick Larkey and Eddie Ford, as students have the opportunity to dive into real-world applications of STEM, from analysing real player statistics to designing cutting-edge club facilities.

The Huddle CEO Cam McLeod said the education program would be available across Victoria free of cost to help thousands of students engage in STEM. “Sport has the power to speak to young people in ways they understand. Connecting STEM learning to Aussie Rules Footy, makes it more relevant, engaging and downright fun for students,” McLeod said.

“Including players like Nick Larkey and Emma Kearney was incredibly important for us because they are role models that inspire young people, and it shows that the club’s players are champions on and off the field.”

Students and teachers across Wyndham will be the first to try these new lessons, as North Melbourne players visit schools across the region on Monday to help launch GOAL! Kangaroos as part of the club’s annual AFL Community Camp.
