North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos trio Sarah Wright, Erika O’Shea and Ruby Tripodi have recommitted to the club until at least the end of 2026.
O’Shea, who was already signed on for 2025, has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension while Wright and Tripodi have signed two-year contract extensions.
A lifelong North Melbourne supporter, Wright was taken with the club’s second selection in the 2019 AFLW Draft.
The 30-year-old has played 59 games, forming part of the Kangaroos’ stingy defence, and is in line for her first All-Australian blazer after being named in the squad of 42 this week.
Hailing from Cork, Ireland, O’Shea arrived at Arden Street in 2022 ahead of AFLW Season 7 as one of the most exciting talents to emerge from Gaelic football in recent years.
The 22-year-old quickly adapted to Australian rules football, settling in off half-back, and has featured 34 times in the royal blue and white.
Tripodi was taken with pick No.23 in the 2023 AFLW Supplementary Draft following three seasons and back-to-back best and fairest wins at Williamstown in the VFLW.
The 23-year-old has played 21 games, including every game so far in 2024 in the Kangaroos’ engine room.
“We’re excited to have Sarah, Erika and Ruby extend their time at Arden Street,” North Melbourne AFLW list manager Flynn Loft said.
“Sarah plays a significant role in our defence, with her ability to drop off her forward to impact the play and help her teammates. She’s been a reliable player for us over several seasons now but continues to improve each year, enjoying arguably her best season yet in 2024.
“Erika has become an important part of our defence across her three seasons at the club, with her ability to take the game forward in our back half with her speed and to lock down on a range of opponents.
"After missing out on our finals campaign in 2023, Ruby worked hard over the off-season to increase her running capacity, which has helped her have the impact she’s had in our midfield this season. She has also impressed with her clean and quick hands at the contest.
“We look forward to watching all players take their game even further over the next couple of years.”
