Five Kangaroos will need to face tests ahead of the club's face-off with Richmond on Saturday afternoon at Marvel Stadium.

Colby McKercher (soreness), Eddie Ford (ankle) and Zac Fisher (foot) will all be looking to return to the senior side, while Aidan Corr (ankle) and Charlie Comben (groin) will need to prove their fitness if they're to run out again this weekend following incidents against Geelong.

"Charlie had an incident in the third quarter landing from a marking contest where he tweaked his groin and was restricted with his function," North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White told NMFC Media.

"He pulled up well post-game on assessment ... (but) his programming has been modified this week to (help him) recover. He had a light run on Tuesday and will look to tick off his function at main training on Thursday to be available to play.

"Aidan had an incident in the second quarter where he suffered an ankle sprain in a marking contest.

"This week, we will manage that ankle conservatively; he was in the pool today (Tuesday) for a movement session to keep him off-legs and to assist recovery.

"Colby pulled up from the Carlton game with high levels of soreness in his legs off the back of some big games at AFL level following his return from bone stress.

"During main training last week, he still had restrictions around his ability to produce speed and high-level function, (so) the decision was made to give him active recovery and rest across the weekend to re-load once again this week.

"Eddie had an innocuous incident last Thursday morning where he rolled his ankle while attempting to pick up a loose groundball during morning prep skills.

"He trained with the group on Tuesday and will look to tick off high-end function during main training.

"Zac had an issue in Round 19 where he felt his plantar fascia stretch in a contest which then pulled up sore.

"He had a light session on-ground today and will look to prove his high-level function on Thursday."

Versatile tall Bigoa Nyuon has been ruled out for this weekend after suffering a dislocated shoulder in the VFL side's loss to Geelong at Arden Street Oval.

Nyuon sustained the injury in the first half but managed to return to the field after half-time to play out the contest.

"Post-game he pulled up sore and with limited range in that shoulder," White said.

"He will be unavailable to play this week and will have a surgical consult this week to determine his options and best practice moving forward.

Curtis Taylor (calf) has been slow to get going from his calf strain and remains a month away from a return.

"He's still experiencing calf tightness and apprehension with loading ... at this stage, he will be racing the clock to play before the season's end, but we'll get a clearer picture on this going into next week depending on his progress across Thursday and Saturday," White said.

Ruckman Hamish Free (concussion) is currently in a holding pattern with his training program while he undergoes some external assessment and guidance around his potential return to play.
