North Melbourne’s Tom Powell has signed a two-year contract extension, tying him to the club until at least the end of 2026.
A versatile midfielder out of Sturt, Powell arrived at Arden Street via pick No.13 in the 2020 AFL Draft off the back of a brilliant SANFL Under-18 season.
He burst onto the scene in his debut campaign with his clean hands and creativity, playing the first 13 games before suffering a groin injury.
Despite a series of niggling injuries across his second and third seasons, the 22-year-old managed to take his game tally to 45 at the end of 2023 and has enjoyed a strong start to 2024, posting career-best numbers.
Powell played his best game for the club last weekend, collecting 28 disposals, kicking two goals and earning five AFLCA votes.
"We’re excited to have Tom sign on for two more years," North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said.
"Tom had a great pre-season and is primed to take the next steps in his fourth year at the club. He’s moved into his preferred inside midfield role, which has seen him among our best players in our opening two games.
"We can’t wait to see where he can take his game over the next couple of years."
Powell is the second Roo to recommit to the club in the past month, joining young gun Harry Sheezel, who signed a four-year contract extension.
