Brad Scott says he doesn't believe the club's competitive trainingsessions against Geelong provided the opposition with an advantage.

Speaking on Channel Nine's Footy Classified on Monday, Scott admitted the Cats' form in recent weeks has been impressive, but in the long
term, his team would greatly benefit from the experiment.

"If you look at the breakdown of their (the Cats') list, there's more to gain for our young, inexperienced players to train against Jimmy Bartel, Harry Taylor in defence, our young key-defenders to play on Tom Hawkins, that experience is invaluable.

"We only play them once or twice a year...I think our young list had more to gain than their experienced list.

The Kangaroos traveled to Simonds Stadium on four occasions in January and February, and played a hard-fought contest against Geelong in the
NAB Cup.

"The benefits were a different stimulus to the pre-season. The pre-season can be extremely long in our game. No other code has a pre-season as long as ours.

"You can train as often as you like against yourselves, but the forward knows what our defenders can do, so the different stimulus is important."
