In a new special feature we will be catching up with every player on the Roos' list in the lead up to 2010. We'll track their movements, find out their goals and provide exclusive photos and videos.

Today Spotlight On looks at the progress of Michael Firrito.

How did you find the pre-season?

Really good. It was enjoyable with everything going on with the new facility, it's all really exciting. It's flown by, unlike other years where it's just sort of dragged out, it seems like the games are on us pretty quickly. We had a good first up performance, so hopefully we can keep backing that up in the season.

How's your form and fitness heading into the 2010 season?

I was going really well. We had a camp on the Gold Coast and I had a bit of a mishap with my ankle. It probably put me back a couple of weeks but it didn't affect me too much overall. I'd done all the work prior and missed a couple of sessions there with that, but I'm back on track now.

How have you recovered from the injury?

Missing a couple of sessions sort of freshened me up a little bit. I'm feeling really good at the moment, pretty fresh and ready to go.

What are you looking forward to in 2010?

Just the performance of our young guys and seeing them going really well. Jack Ziebell, Cruize Garlett, Ed Lower, just seeing their continued development and hoping we can become a real force.

Are you happy playing down back again?

I am, I've sort of been all over the shop a little bit, deep-back and in the midfield and everything. There's a pretty good young group of defenders there so I'll certainly enjoy working with them and hopefully I can give us some good drive and be valuable for us there.
