Rhyce Shaw will coach North Melbourne until the end of the 2019 season, following the departure of Brad Scott.
A two-time Assistant Coach of the Year, Shaw joined the club in September, 2018 and has led the Roos’ defensive group this year.
“He’s (Shaw) a fantastic individual and he’s made a great impact already on our team and on our footy club,” North chairman Ben Buckley said.
“He’ll do a fantastic job.”
Shaw will take the reins against Richmond on Friday night.
“Rhyce is a quality individual and you will be exposed to that in the coming weeks,” Scott said.
“But he’s also very fortunate to have Darren Crocker as an exceptional coach and in my view a senior coach in his own right, Leigh Tudor who is a senior coach in his own right, and Jarred Moore has come through from a player to development coach to a fantastic assistant coach as well.”
