Another disappointing North Melbourne performance meant there was little to smile about in the media after the loss to the Crows.

Football writers targeted the club’s ongoing issues with consistency.

“While the Roos have possibly had the toughest draw of any club, and are now facing eight of their remaining 10 matches against clubs below them on the ladder starting with Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday, coach Brad Scott was also dismayed by his team’s lack of consistency.” - The Age, Ashley Porter.

Herald Sun chief football writer Mark Robinson went hard, suggesting North’s finals credentials are flimsy following the 36-point defeat.

“They remain an infuriating and inconsistent team and at the halfway mark of the season, you have to argue they are not a threat. The draw is favourable, but there’s too great a divide between their best and worst. Indeed, the line for frustrated North supporters starts at Bordertown.”

The most direct criticism came via The Age's Rohan Connolly on Twitter.

On AFL.com.au, Garry Lyon said the loss on the weekend leaves North vulnerable, but pointed out the club was helped by losses to Gold Coast and Essendon.

"It puts them in a precarious position when you look at the eight."

The 7th placed Roos face a confident Demons outfit on Sunday evening at the MCG with Paul Roos’ men coming off a stunning upset over Essendon. The Lions await North in Round 15 before one of the club’s biggest tests of the year; Hawthorn in Round 16.
