Season highlight

Round 2 v Western Bulldogs

After spending five years at Sydney without playing a senior game, Currie had to wait until his second season at North Melbourne to make his debut.

Coming into the side after North’s season opening loss, Currie also kicked his debut goal against the Bulldogs and helped provide a spark in the second half on the way to a 29-point win.

Season in review

After making his long-awaited senior debut, Currie played three out of four games as a second ruckman and key position forward.

However after the Round 5 loss to Collingwood, Currie was omitted and returned to Werribee where he resumed his role as the number one ruckman.

The second-year Roo continued to dominate at VFL level when he was on the field, with an injury sidelining him for a month through the middle of the year.

Eventually Currie’s good form was rewarded with another senior game in Round 23 against Melbourne, making his way into the side for Goldstein who was rested.

He carried the ruck load in the victory over the Demons, notching 36 hit-outs and helping the side to win the clearance count.
