kangaroos.com.au says:

North Melbourne's first pick in the 2011 National Draft showed glimpses of his potential during his debut season at Aegis Park. With a slim build he was always going to take time to add the bulk required which explains only the two appearances in the senior side as the substitute.

Despite progressing well with North Ballarat in the VFL, the coaching and fitness staff seized on an opportunity to fast track his physical development by sending him to Utah mid-season. Accompanying Jack Ziebell who was serving a four-match suspension, the trip exposed McKenzie to a grueling schedule.
