Seven new Kangaroos recruits will have their first taste of action in the club's AFLW match simulation against Essendon on Saturday.

Trade arrivals Kate Shierlaw, Lulu Pullar and Eliza Shannon have been named in the club's squad of 28 to tune up against the Bombers as they prepare for their 2023 premiership campaign.

The trade trio are joined in the squad by fellow new Roos Liz McGrath, Ruby Tripodi, Lucy Burke and Niamh Martin.

A host of star Kangaroos will also be in action, led by club champion Jas Garner, midfield dynamo Ash Riddell and leader Emma Kearney, who will captain the Roos for the sixth straight season. 

Fans can head along to Windy Hill to watch the hitout from 10am AEST.

The Kangaroos' next pre-season assignment will be a practice match against the Western Bulldogs at Arden St on Saturday, August 19 at 12.05pm AEST. Entry will be free, and the match will also be live streamed on the North Melbourne website and app.

The practice match will give fans their first glimpse of the recently introduced rule adjustments, which includes longer quarters, interchange caps, adjustments to boundary throw ins and a cap on the use of runners.

The Kangaroos launch their AFLW campaign against St Kilda at Hobart's Blundstone Arena in Round 1.
