North Melbourne has begun its Next Generation Academy tryouts, with kids turning out in force to show off their skills.
More than 120 girls and boys turned up at a soggy Arden St on Tuesday, heading straight on to North’s training ground to work with North staff and the team from Dynamic Footy Skills.
A large number of girls were among the talented group of youngsters looking to further develop their footy skills.
AFL clubs have been provided with seed funding to establish club branded ‘Next Generation Academies’ in allocated areas around the country.
North’s Next Generation Academy, for children between the ages of 11 – 15 years old, will aim to ensure the game continues to attract and foster the development of players, regardless of background or location.
On Monday, 60 boys and girls also attended North’s Wyndham try outs.
North will head to Tasmania later this month, in conjunction with AFL Tasmania, as it continues its search for its Next Generation Academy participants and registrations are still open.
The club will then select a group of players across both states for a 10 week elite development program.
