North Melbourne's VFL team has convincingly clinched its second win of the season, defeating Sydney by 42 points at Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday.
Forward Paul Curtis shone and booted the first three goals of the affair to help shoot the Roos to a significant early lead, and the visitors managed to hold the advantage for the rest of the contest.
Tom Lynch's side was in control for most of the first half, showing spread and composure off half-back with the ball while applying plenty of pressure to its opposition without it.
"What was most pleasing today was just our pressure and our ability to be really strong at the contest," VFL coach Lynch told NMFC Media.
"Our transition both ways (was great), our contested possession tally was really strong on the day and it was really pleasing that the players were able to play the way that they know they're capable of performing."

Sydney began to mount a comeback immediately after the main break, however, and managed to get to within 10 points of the Kangaroos after registering six unanswered majors to start the third term.
However, three late goals to Curtis, Tyler Sellers and Hamish Free saw North Melbourne keep a relatively healthy lead with a quarter left to play.
The Roos were able to cruise home from then onwards as they reclaimed the ascendancy at the coalface and threw another four majors onto their total.
Curtis was the main contributor in front of the big sticks finishing the day with five goals and 20 disposals, while Sam Lowson, Callum Coleman-Jones, Sellers and Free all chipped in with two each.
"He (Curtis) was really important today and, yeah, on the stat sheet he did some really good things in terms of hitting the scoreboard and being influential when he had the footy - because he's a quality player - but he lead the way in our ability to be unselfish," Lynch mentioned.
"The sharing among our forwards today ... and care for one another was just really pleasing from a coach's point of view."
Defender Aaron Hall played an important role out of defensive 50 gathering 37 touches, eight marks and a goal, while fellow defenders Aiden Bonar and Miller Bergman, who made their returns to the VFL this weekend, combined for 51 touches and 20 marks.
"I've been really happy with 'Hally's' (Aaron Hall) buy-in over the last few weeks in terms of being a great teammate and today he was rewarded with plenty of the ball," Lynch said.
"But the manner in which he's playing with the young defenders in our back half at the moment ... I've got no doubt that they (the young defenders) would've been pleased with his leadership down there."
Charlie Lazzaro was impressive across all four periods after starting Good Friday off promisingly. He collected 29 disposals while captain and fellow midfielder Jack Watkins continued his terrific start to 2023 with 28 touches and five clearances.
